David Doubliet

David Doubliet the underwater artist. He began at the age of 8 snorkeling of the coast of New Jersey. At the age of 12 he began taking photographs underwater. He was inspired by all things he saw under the sea. David has long since mastered the techniques of working with water and light to become one of the world’s most celebrated underwater photographers. He was also in the magazine National Geographic.

David is not really shy when it comes to interviews. In the article interviewing David Doubliet he said, “Well, I began to go underwater not very far away from where we live now in a small lake in the Adirondack Mountains. I was at summer camp. I was a terrible camper.” The camp didn’t really care about it but when he stuck his head underwater he was happy at last. He would himself at peace when he was under the water. Even at 8 he knew what he wanted to do.

In a different article they asked him if working under the sea is hard because subject sometimes doesn’t work with him. In his art work David shows that, “Most fish what they want to do most of all is not have their picture taken. There are very few real interactions underwater, but occasionally in this cold sea there is something that's sort of wonderful.” He doesn’t mind that they don’t interact with him. He still enjoys them even when they don’t work with him. David enjoys it a lot when he does get a chance to work with the creatures he takes pictures of too.

In the final article in National Geographic asked him if this jobs is the greatest in the world. David said that, “ That means when you are there and thinking about all of those things, the scuba diving world kind of becomes second nature. You're just there, you're swimming, and you don't really pay attention to it—but of course you do have to pay attention to your time, your depth, and how you feel.” David feels very strong about his work from this article. I love how his emotions come out and you can feel how he is in life. He must be in love with his job if he has done it for so long.

David doubliet is a great artist. His underwater work is one of the best in the world. The interviews he does shows that he cares about the work he does. David hopefully will be working in this industry for many years. David Doubliet the artist of the underwater photography scene.
